Feedback with Sander 04.12.2025
We then turned to the project itself. Sander pointed out that some designers use an “imperfect” look on purpose for commercial work. Because of this, the project must stay clear about its own aim: is each flaw the result of coincidence, of material behaviour, or of a deliberate stylistic choice? Keeping that distinction visible will show the real voice behind the work.
Finally, we reviewed my updated (just a draft, not refined yet) research question:
“Is a design ever truly finished, or does it stop simply because a deadline, a rule, or someone else tells me to?”
Sander said the question is better than the one I raised in the Plenum one, and it could guide me to the next steps. Since “Finishedness” can be read in many ways—technical, emotional, institutional, material, or procedural—so the project can test different stopping points (deadline, procrastination, instinct, and so on) and see how each one changes the meaning of “done.”
Meanwhile, don’t struggle with productivity. Just focus on keeping gaining insights from theory intensive weeks and masterclass.
