Screenprinting Consultation with Gerard 20.03.2026
This screenprinting consultation focused on updating the technical process and my new direction for the project with Gerard.
At the beginning of the consultation, the recent development of my masterproject was explained. The focus has shifted from intentionally producing imperfect prints (in October last year) towards a broader exploration of (un)finishedness (current theme). This change also affects how my prints are made, not only as outcomes, but as part of an ongoing process.
Preparation for the next print step was also confirmed. These typographic “patches” that will be added onto the posters are ready for production. The digital files were checked and approved, and three films were produced for screenprinting. This allows the next phase of physical experimentation to continue.
An additional yet brilliant idea was suggested from Gerard during the discussion!
So far, most of the modifications and decisions have been made from my single, internal perspective. A proposal was made to develop a set of self-produced Letraset sheets. These could be presented as part of the exhibition, possibly allowing jury members or viewers to interact with the work by adding or changing elements. In this way, another perspective could enter the process of “finishing.”
Even without direct interaction, the Letraset format itself was considered relevant to the project. It reflects ideas of editing, layering, and decision-making, and connects well with the theme of unfinishedness.
However, producing Letraset is technically challenging. The appropriate paper has not yet arrived, so this part of the process will be continued at a later stage.
