This studio consultation was with Gerard, focused on the dry-transfer prints I tested and storage methods.
The result works much much better than the paper ink. Gerard suggested trying another sheet without glue, since the textile ink itself might also be able to transfer.
The transfer does not work perfectly every time (sometimes it does). However, the imperfect results are still visually interesting, so it could still be worth producing some versions with it. The flaws fit quite naturally with the project’s interest in imperfection and unfinishedness.
Since these dry-transfer prints are a little sticky, I also asked about how to store them.
Gerard suggested placing one sheet of baking paper between each transfer sheet to prevent them from sticking together.
Another possible method would be using chalk powder from the etching studio. However, this could affect the visual and the user experience during transfer, because the surface would feel powdery when touched.
Gerard also mentioned that these experiments were useful for testing with the new glue formula and comparing two different types of ink. The outcomes may also be relevant for future workshop use and opened further possibilities for the dry-transfer process.
