Feedback on the potential research questions with Sander 07.10.2025

Already answered?

My current research questions are somehow “already answered”.
→ go beyond “how to show the process”, and ask why I, as a designer, feel the need to show it. This connects to broader questions about anxiety and perfectionism in design culture.

Self-serving?
The project should not only represent my own interest.
→ expand it into a reflection, what contradictions do designers face when they try to balance perfection with their own expression and creative freedom.

Try different lens?
Look at the research questions from another perspective.
→ explore it through my professional identity and the industry structure: how we designers within the system define perfection and failure.

In between
Stay interested in the “in-between” zone.
→ explore the tension between art and commerce, self-expression and client demand.

Insider /
Outsider view
Reflect the topic from inside and / or outside the profession.
→ use my position as a practicing designer to reveal internal pressures and cultural expectations, and be aware of the different situation between Belgium (or western) and Taiwan (or eastern).

Go broader
at this stage!
Keep the scope open before narrowing down, and start trying to print something in the studio.

Internship
Sander suggested that our internship portfolios can be flexible depending on the company or studio that we are going to apply (adding/removing contents).
